The newest campus of the University of Chicago Charter School opened in autumn 2008 as a middle school, named for one of the University’s first African American graduates, Carter G. Woodson.

The Carter G. Woodson campus of the University of Chicago Charter School serves grades six through eight in a Chicago Public Schools facility at 4444 S. Evans Ave. It is located in Bronzeville next to an existing Chicago public school, the Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, which serves grades kindergarten through eight.

The After-School Instructor will provide lesson plans and structured schedule of enrichment activities for small groups of 6 - 8th grade students. This position will also collaborate with Group Leaders to maintain optimal student involvement.

Position Qualifications:

•High School Diploma plus 1-2 years of college preferred. Undergraduate students majoring in education are encouraged to apply.

•1-2 years experience working with 6 - 8th grade students in an urban public school setting and/or youth organization

•Collaborative, goal oriented, mission driven, accountable, responsible, self managed, motivated

•Excellent written and oral communication skills

•Ability to communicate and build respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
