Serving pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, Donoghue is the second public elementary campus of the University of Chicago Charter School Corporation. Donoghue, which opened in 2005, is a college preparatory campus committed to professional development, inquiry, and high expectations for all staff and students. Donoghue serves as a catalyst for community building by offering programs for students and families beyond the school day.
Position Summary:
This position will deliver ambition instruction in a classroom that incorporates evidence-based analysis of practice in order to assure that all students can achieve at high levels in a classroom that provides a stimulating, challenging, and productive learning environment. The position will work with the Campus Director and Assistant Director, the Instructional Coaches, and colleagues to implement the school’s literacy framework and Everyday Math program.
We value teachers with content area expertise, knowledge and experience in using balanced literacy frameworks and Everyday Mathematics. A well-qualified literacy teacher will have knowledge and experience in using the balanced literacy framework. A well-qualified math teacher will have extensive knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practices to deliver targeted small group instruction.
Position Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in education and state certification; at least 2 years of urban teaching experience in related field; and proven program planning and development experience. Applicant will be an excellent teacher of students, reflective and receptive to professional feedback and coaching, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
