UChicago Charter School is a neighborhood charter school comprised of four academic campuses on Chicago's south side. Two elementary school campuses serve grades PreK- 5, one middle school campus serves Grades 6-8, and one combined middle and high school campus serves Grades 6-12. Together, the four campuses of the UChicago Charter School provide a prekindergarten through twelfth grade "superhighway" to college, cultivating students to become critical thinkers and leaders who succeed in four-year colleges and beyond.

PK-5 Technology Coach

We need you to work with teachers and students to leverage the full capacity of instructional technology that will help our students graduate from college.

Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate a range of PD opportunities, including group (large and small) and individual coaching sessions.
2. Work with teachers both individually in their classroom and in groups to aid them in using technology to address standards such as the Common Core as well as other student.
3. Help teachers to independently plan and execute engaging lessons that drive student achievement with the aid of technology.
4. Model lessons in all curricular areas.
5. Work with school instructional leaders to drive the strategic, appropriate, and visionary use of technology in instructional practice.
6. Measure effectiveness of technology tools in meeting school and teacher achievement goals.
7. Research, evaluate and classroom-test new technology strategies on an on-going basis
8. Demonstrate knowledge and support of UChicago Charter School’s mission and vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
9. Provides expedient end-user support as needed in additional areas of the Technology Department, including basic desktop and network support, troubleshooting, and set-up.
10. Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff, parents/guardians, and outside vendors to perform job responsibilities as outlined.
11. Actively and effectively communicates with the Chief Technology Officer.
12. Communicates clearly and efficiently with UCCS students, parents, faculty, staff and administration.
13. Holds high expectations for self.
14. Participates in staff development programs as assigned.
15. Demonstrates effective planning, organization, and teamwork.
16. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Strong belief that technology can be used to enhance the learning experience in the classroom.
2. Extensive experience managing or coaching teachers or school leaders.
3. Proven track record of early adoption of technology in the classroom.
4. Ability to take complicated topics and explain them in simple terms.
5. Former classroom teacher who is excited about helping their fellow teachers to use technology to creatively drive their day-to-day instruction.
6. Strong desire to provide personalized support for classroom teachers.
7. A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in a K-12 urban, public or charter schools. (Student teaching doesn’t qualify)
8. Bachelor’s Degree required.
9. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
10. Ability to work well in a team.
11. Ability to work under periods of stress.
12. Proficient in educational hardware and software.
13. Strong curriculum design and planning skills.
14. Experience with Apple/Microsoft/Google, SMART/Promethean, Mobile Devices/1:1

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Instructional Technology
