The Woodlawn Campus of the University of Chicago Charter School (UCW) opened in September 2006. It has a three-part mission: 1) to assist students in developing the habits of mind, work, and heart to be successful in college and good citizens of their community; 2) to contribute to the community through student research, service, and leadership; and 3) to improve teaching and learning by serving as a site of professional development for teachers and school leaders. The Woodlawn Campus educates students in grades 6-12th.
Position Summary:
The Security Officer will provide security for the school by ensuring controlled entry and exit to the school building and responding to school security issues as necessary. This is a part-time, benefits-ineligible position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain sign in log for the school at main entry point
- Welcome and direct visitors
- Work with staff to ensure safe movement of students after school
- Maintain proper appearance for the front of the school and front entry way
- Manage traffic flow of parents and students during day to ensure that individuals enter in the main door
- Support classroom teachers by escorting students to the office in emergency situations.
Qualifications:
Good verbal and interpersonal skills. Organized and mature person with patience for children and adults. Ability to relate and fit in within a diverse cultural and economic community of students, staff, and parents. A willingness to take initiative.
Education and Experience Required: Experience working with children and/or adolescents, and two to five years of relevant experience. |
