The newest campus of the University of Chicago Charter School opened in autumn 2008 as a middle school, named for one of the University’s first African American graduates, Carter G. Woodson.
The Carter G. Woodson campus of the University of Chicago Charter School serves grades six through eight in a Chicago Public Schools facility at 4444 S. Evans Ave. It is located in Bronzeville next to an existing Chicago public school, the Carter G. Woodson Elementary School, which serves sixth through eighth grade students.
The Social Studies Instructor will be responsible for providing social studies instruction for grades 6 - 8.

•Excellent teacher with proven experience enabling urban students to meet high expectations
•Reflective and receptive to providing and receiving professional feedback, videotaping, and coaching
•Collaborative, collegial, goal-oriented, mission-driven, accountable, responsible, self- managed, and self-motivated
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
Education and Experience Required:
•Bachelor’s degree, appropriate state certification in social studies
•At least two years of urban teaching experience
•Proven commitment to curriculum and assessment planning and professional development |
