Serving pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, Donoghue is the second public elementary campus of the University of Chicago Charter School Corporation. Donoghue, which opened in 2005, is a college preparatory campus committed to professional development, inquiry, and high expectations for all staff and students. Donoghue serves as a catalyst for community building by offering programs for students and families beyond the school day.

Position Summary:

The Instructional Aide will be responsible for assisting teachers in classrooms through clerical support, planning assistance, and student engagement and providing direct student supervision during the early bird program, school recess and lunch periods.

Position Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (GED equivalent) or Associates Degree. Two years of college preferred.  ISBE Paraprofessional certificate is required.

• At least 3 years experience working in and with urban communities

• 1-2 years experience working with elementary school-age children in an urban public school setting and/or youth organization

• Collaborative, goal-oriented, mission-driven, accountable, responsible, self-managed, and self-motivated

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to communicate and build respectful relationships with parents and caregivers
