Serving pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, Donoghue is the second public elementary campus of the University of Chicago Charter School Corporation. Donoghue, which opened in 2005, is a college preparatory campus committed to professional development, inquiry, and high expectations for all staff and students. Donoghue serves as a catalyst for community building by offering programs for students and families beyond the school day.

Position Summary:

This position will deliver ambitious instruction in a classroom that incorporates evidence-based analysis of practice in order to assure that all students can achieve at high levels in a classroom that provides a stimulating, challenging, and productive learning environment. The apprentice teacher will work directly under a master teacher, learning best practices of how to run and manage a classroom.  In addition, the apprentice teacher will provide small group instruction to scholars throughout the building based on need. The position will work with the Campus Director, Math and Literacy Coaches, and colleagues to implement the school’s literacy framework and Everyday Math program. We value teachers with content area expertise, knowledge and experience in using balanced literacy frameworks and Everyday Mathematics.

Position Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in education, a desire to pursue Illinois state certification and work in an urban teaching environment.  In addition, applicants should have proven program planning and development experience. Applicant will be an excellent teacher of students, reflective and receptive to professional feedback and coaching, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
