The newest campus of the University of Chicago Charter School opened in autumn 2008 as a middle school, named for one of the University’s first African American graduates, Carter G. Woodson.

 

The Carter G. Woodson campus of the University of Chicago Charter School serves eighth grade students in a Chicago Public Schools facility at 4444 S. Evans Ave. It is located in Bronzeville next to an existing Chicago public school, the Carter G. Woodson Elementary School.

 

Job Summary:

 

The RTI Instructor will provide intervention strategies within and outside the classroom setting. He/She will be responsible for the implementation of Reading interventions, data analysis, and collection of individualized interim assessments for students identified as needing remedial instruction within the RTI guidelines and the dissemination of data using CIM to building a district level school personnel. 

 

The RTI Instructor will use evidence-based classroom techniques and strategies that will enhance student instruction, as well as model and provide small group ”pull out” and “push- in” instruction in Reading.  This is a part-time, (working 15 hours per week), benefits-ineligible position.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support growth and achievement through small group instruction
  • Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
  • React proactively with regard to data analysis
  • Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
  • Support the implementation of interim assessments; plans for re teaching based on interim results, and effective practices for teaching the skills assessed in the NWEA , CBM tests
  • Create and generate reports of student and group progress
  • Effectively maintain records of attendance and progress monitoring
  • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Attend training sessions

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Bachelor's in Education field preferred.  Illinois licensure preferred
  • At least 1 year experience preferred
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff members, and parents
