The UChicago Charter School is a public charter school in the Chicago Public Schools district composed of three campuses serving approximately 1,500 students on Chicago’s South Side. UChicago Charter’s North Kenwood/Oakland and Donoghue elementary campuses serve grades preK–5, and its combined middle and high school Woodlawn campus serves grades 6-12. Together, the three campuses of the UChicago Charter School provide a pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade “superhighway” to college, cultivating students to become critical thinkers and leaders who succeed in four-year colleges and beyond.
Job Summary:
The Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and supporting all aspects of the recruitment, registration, and enrollment process of UChicago Charter School. In addition, the Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator will support the recruitment and hiring efforts for teaching positions within the network.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Admissions, Registration and Enrollment
- Support primary “on the ground” recruitment efforts through outreach to the community, organizations and schools with a focus on building partnerships for a pipeline to prospective students. Collaborate with stakeholders involved with family engagement and identify ways to increase engagement to aid student recruitment, retention, and enrollment efforts.
- In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and implement recruitment plan to ensure the school’s annual enrollment goals are met.
- Manage various admissions events at the schools, including planning, correspondence with families, and assistance with execution. Plan and attend local events to reach prospective families.
- Lead and support information sessions. Communicate with prospective families to engage them and provide clarity and consistency throughout the application and enrollment process.
- Manage enrollment and registration process. Review and evaluate student applications, collect track application data, and provide reports as needed.
- Manage GoCPS and communications by Chicago Public Schools as it relates to student enrollment and recruitment.
- Support marketing and communication efforts by developing recruitment materials for the three campuses. Ensure all student recruitment marketing materials are consistent and aligned and post via the UChicago Charter School website and social media platforms (ie., LinkedIn, Handshake).
Teacher Recruitment
- Identify and implement innovative sourcing strategies to attract and discover top talent for difficult-to-fill teaching positions.
- Register and participate in local college and career fairs.
- Launch recruiting campaigns to connect with prospective applicants for job openings. Interact with prospective applicants across various external channels, including LinkedIn, Handshake, campus events, and employee referrals.
- Support school directors with recruitment efforts including sourcing and screening applicants, reviewing applicant resumes, forwarding resumes to directors, and scheduling interviews.
- Perform other related work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience
- Track record of producing exceptional results
- Previous experience within student recruitment and/or community/grassroots organizing (preferred)
- Willingness to have a flexible schedule with evening and weekend hours (as needed)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Persuasive public speaking abilities, with experience presenting to various stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency with marketing design program (PowerPoint, Publisher, Illustrator, etc.) (preferred)
- Deep understanding of Chicago Public Schools ecosystem including GoCPS enrollment platform
